Music theory, an apparently intellectual topic, can be learnt joyfully by young students when we lead them to develop their musical intuition using an ear-based, practical process. In this course, Caroline Fraser will demonstrate how Suzuki students can reach intellectual awareness by experiencing and discovering the concepts for themselves. Through student demonstrations and class participation, methods of teaching “rational” topics, (such as intervals, tonality, scales, intervals, triads, 7^th chords, modulations, chromatic coloring and the basics of functional harmony, rhythm and meter) will be approached in a natural manner, showing how children can learn with ease, leaving them happy and wanting more!
